Louis Scholz was strolling through a flea market one day when he spotted a woman’s pin in one of the cases. It was an oversized starfish with a cabochon sapphire at the end of each arm. Scholz recognized the piece as one designed by Suzanne Bell Perone and purchased it for just under $5,000. The original signed piece was actually worth $80,000.

3/27/09 - LEXINGTON’S ST. JOHN & MYERS NAMED ‘STAR STORE’ DURING SPRING 09 ATLANTA JEWELRY SHOW BUYING TRIP 

LEXINGTON, KY (March, 2009) – St. John & Myers of Lexington, Kentucky was recognized as a “Star Store” by the Southern Jewelry Travelers Association (SJTA) during the recent February 28-March 2, 2009 Atlanta Jewelry Show at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, GA.  This special designation recognized St. John & Myers as one of the most loyal retailers attending the semi-annual, premier trade show for independent jewelers from throughout the southeastern region.

“We launched the ‘Star Store’ program to put the spotlight on our most loyal attendees,” explains Carol Young, executive director, SJTA, producers of the Atlanta Jewelry Show.  “By coming to this show year after year, these retailers are demonstrating a strong commitment to the customers in their communities.  Not only do they get a first-hand look at the latest merchandise and breaking trends during their buying trip to Atlanta, but these retailers also have the chance to network with peers and attend a full roster of educational programs to ensure that they are bringing customers the best in products and services.”

To achieve “Star Store” status, a store must meet the 80% attendance requirement over the past 5 years or 10 shows. These retailers were identified during the show with special stars on their badges that alerted vendors and fellow industry members of their elite status.

For more than 55 years, the Atlanta Jewelry Show has been held in the in the spring and fall to give jewelers the opportunity to restock their shelves and add new merchandise.  During the Spring 2009 edition, St. John & Myers had the opportunity to explore booths showcasing the  latest introductions from more than 600 industry leaders and up-and-coming companies in virtually every product category, including antique jewelry, bridal, charms, designer jewelry, diamonds, earrings, gold, pearls, platinum, sterling jewelry, tools, watches and much more.
